Hornbill Festival, Nagaland

Spanning over a week, Hornbill Festival is cultural potpourri of Nagaland. Held every year in the first week of December at Naga Heritage village at Kisama, the festival is got its name from the Great Indian Hornbill bird found in plenty in Nagaland. It is one of the major tourist attractions of the north eastern state.

Aptly called the “Festivals of the festival”, Hornbill Festival display Naga dance, music, arts and crafts, handicrafts, traditional culinary delights and several other contests and activities. Different tribes showcase their traditional dance and music and not only this some tribes from the other north eastern states also participate in the contests. As the day draws to a close the festival becomes all the more interesting with the Hornbill National Rock Concert where bands from different parts of the country perform. It is followed by a night market where you can do a lot of shopping.
